Songs In Ads – Oldies But Goodies

My father-in-law (and I, since I just added to this list) have been compiling a list of songs from “his” era that are in modern ads. Is this a commentary on modern music being terrible? Or is it a marketing decision to subconsciously appeal to an older generation? Or are these older songs becoming less expensive now that many of the catalogs are being purchased for large sums, and the new owners need to continue a return on their investment? Are modern songs not good enough for modern commercials, or are they simply slim pickins?

This thought is to be continued…If you have anything to add, please do so in the comments section below.
